Position Summary

Working in conjunction with the Director of Innovation & Marketing, the individual in this position will have the responsibility of driving the customer-backed innovation process, leading the engineering team, and implementing engineering process improvements. She/he will be responsible for managing a collaborative cross-functional relationship and providing technical support to our Commercial, Operations, Regulatory and Finance teams.  

Responsibilities/Duties

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement phase gate approach to product development in accordance with ITW’s customer back innovation process
  • Implement and lead engineering processes and best-in-class engineering tools to improve the quality and pace of new product development
  • Establish, monitor, and improve relevant key performance indicators to drive innovation & new product development performance and report on these to all stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Lead the resolution of critical customer and/or product issues
  • Effectively & efficiently manages engineering resources to ensure all project activities are completed per plan and meet technical, cost, quality, and schedule requirements

Required Qualifications

Job Requirements
  • BS degree in Engineering
  • 7+ years of related progressive experience in engineering with a mechanical or materials focus
  • Experience executing a phase gate approach to product development from initial development and validation of customer back specifications through product launch and post launch support.
  • Incorporating input from cross functional group of stakeholders including commercial, sourcing, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, and engineering into product development
  • Strong project management skills related to product development
  • Proven ability to understand strategic priorities and prioritize resources to deliver them
  • Manufacturing experience and analytical acumen
  • Supervisory experience
  • Drive for results with strong financial acumen
  • Strong influence skills and demonstrated ability to successfully build productive relationships across functions
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
  • Experience within NDT industry preferred
